About The Gospel

Oct 27, 2019

Dave spoke about the Gospel - Victory, Peace and Authority. Romans 1 verses 1-7 16-17.

Dave looked at what the gospel is and how we should live in the good of it in a relationship with our Father.

Let’s look at the what the gospel means. Good herald.

In ancient times if an emperor won a great victory which secured his peace and established his authority the herald would go to the towns and declare that Peace, Victory and Authority had come to the kingdom.

The gospel is an announcement, a declaration.

The gospel is not advice to be followed. It is good news of what has been done.

I am a herald of the gospel. You are a herald of the gospel. This church is a herald of the gospel.

The gospel is that people have move from defeat of a sinful life to victory in Christ.

The gospel is that people don’t have to be in conflict with God but can have peace with God through Jesus.

The gospel is that the living of a powerless life is exchanged for the Authority in Christ.

Tim Keller

How religion works ; If I obey Then God will love and accept me.

The Gospel: I’m loved and accepted, therefore I wish to obey.

Our relationship with the God head.

It is a vertical relationship.

Not a horizontal relationship.

Psalm 121

I love the psalm looks directly to the Lord. Then he declares the attributes of God.

The attitude is one of living life before an aid of one, the Almighty one, the Living one who submitted Himself to suffer to win the Victory, give us Peace and receive Authority to live our lives.

Job had that relationship with God.

He suffered but his relationship was on the vertical with God. He didn’t bitch about Him in a horizontal relationship.

Yes he complained, he was angry, he had questions of why and God speaks to him.

Job 38 1-7, 12-13

In the end God tells Jobs friends that they should ask job to pray for them because they speak lies about the character of God.

Declare the gospel that Jesus has set us free, given us all victory over sin. It is not a life style. It is a close relationship to foster.

Think about how you view the gospel. How can you sharpen your gospel presentation?

Look at psalm 121 and let it inspire you to look at the relationship with your Father in a new way. How can you improve you way of looking at your prayer life?

What in day to day life inspires you to pray or praise God.

Look at a Job. What can you learn from His relationship with the Lord?

How do you handle difficult circumstances in life? Revert to a vertical or horizontal relationship with Him?
