Kidzone is for 5-11 year olds and meets every Sunday morning in our venue from approx 11am to the end of the meeting (approx 12:15pm).
The morning is open to all children and aims to provide lots of fun through taking part in energetic games, competitions and other activities, (e.g. stories, songs, drama and videos) as they learn about and encounter God.
A vision for Kidzone
Having fun – children's overriding feeling needs to be that church is fun and somewhere they want to be and they are not coming because they have to. They need to have age appropriate activities for them both in Kidzone but also in church too. We need to help them feel that the time they spend in church is relevant and inclusive and not the boring bit before they go out
Staying safe – Church in the Peak must be a place that takes safeguarding seriously and has clear processes for ensuring they are cared for by safe and appropriately trained adults in a safe environment. Safeguarding is a whole church responsibility and the procedures for dealing with concerns need to be communicated effectively.
Learning about God – Kidzone needs to be a place where the bible is taught and children can discover faith, deepen their relationship with God and express this through worship, prayer, giving, mission and gifts of the spirit. This needs to be done in partnership with parents wherever possible and there is a role for Kidzone to encourage whole family discipleship
Being church – children in Church in the Peak are a fundamental part of the church, they are not the future church. We need to increase the opportunities for them to take part in services or for the church to be part of Kidzone. They need to be considered in terms of worship, teaching, mission, evangelism in fact everything that the church is involved in
Growing – good children's work attracts new families and we want to provide a setting that families feel confident to bring their children into and to settle down in the church. Above all we want to see whole families becoming Christians. We need to consider making links with schools, children's centre etc as a way of connecting with families and having events they can come along too, not just hope they will come on a Sunday
Would you like to join with us in helping the kids grow in their knowledge and love of God? Although it can be tiring at times, it is very rewarding and we guarantee that you will be blessed. If you would like to help us, please talk to Pippa.
Church in the Peak has a child protection policy which is available on request. All our workers are trained in child protection and key workers have a current DBS check.
KidZone is led by Pippa Young and a willing team of helpers.
